Now you can complete one Pre-K to 12th grade school application and submit it to multiple schools with 50+ school choices.
The school in your neighborhood is not the only school your child can attend, and you’ve got even more options than those participating in Apply Houston, Apply Austin, and Apply San Antonio! We encourage you to search now to find out about ALL of your options – for schools outside of Apply Houston, Apply Austin, and Apply San Antonio you’ll need to find out specific application deadlines, enrollment requirements, and in some cases testing scores. You can always contact us if you need help understanding the differences between schools or how to apply.
We encourage you to look up data about school performance, but we passionately believe that you have to go to the school in person – to see teachers, students, and school leaders in action – in order to really understand it. And when you do, you should consider:
HIGH EXPECTATIONS FOR ALL STUDENTS.
TIP: don’t just look at one overall rating or school but look at whether students of all types and backgrounds are succeeding.
COMMITTED TEACHERS. STRONG, CONSISTENT SCHOOL LEADERSHIP.
Hint: do you see teachers and students actively engaged in learning? What do other parents say about teachers and administrators?
STUDENTS GRADUATING WHO ARE COLLEGE- AND CAREER- READY.
Note: this is not the same as graduation rates! Ask about what happens to students AFTER they graduate!
HOME AND SCHOOL CONNECTION.
We think parents are one of their child’s most important teachers, and we think school leaders should recognize and honor that!
Here are a few questions to ask when looking for the right school for your kids.
What kind of learning environment will fit your child’s specific skills and talents?
Are you interested in giving them the chance to be in sports, the fine arts, or other extracurricular clubs?
What kind of communication do you want from the teachers and the school principals?
Do after or before school services matter to you?
