Mina is Families Empowered’s Director of Innovation, where she focuses on organization-wide strategic issues, including expansion, regional innovation and programming, and performance management. Prior to joining Families Empowered full-time, Mina worked with the organization as a consultant for two (2) years. Previously, she worked for over fifteen years with social sector organizations as a strategic consultant both independently and with CatalystEd, Safal Partners, and Blue Garnet.
Mina has worked with dozens of organizations ranging in size from a three-person initiative to keep Cambodian arts traditions alive to the U.S. Department Education, where she co-authored a white paper on district-charter collaboration. She has worked with capacity building organizations and direct providers in the fields of youth services, education, workforce development, community economic development, domestic violence, affordable housing, volunteerism, and arts management. Recent clients and cases include: Thinkery, Houston Rocks, Houston Endowment, and the New York Road Runners youth services.
Mina has been a featured speaker at the Texas Nonprofit Summit, and is a Board Member for a growing social enterprise, Generation SERVE. Mina earned a MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and has a BA with honors from Princeton University. She has also completed extensive coursework in program evaluation and statistics at the University of Texas, Austin. Mina is passionate about public education, closing the achievement gap, and the importance of taking parents seriously and engaging with them authentically as advocates for their own children. She lives with her husband and two children in Austin, TX.
